The Roots of the Parable Patch
A vast array of whimsical songs and stories are tucked under my childhood jacket. My little girl household was filled with music and imagination. Most of my memories include someone in our home either singing, playing an instrument, or telling a story. I consider myself blessed to have experienced such an upbringing.
During my years as a young wife hoping and waiting to become a mother, it is no small wonder that I returned to the joys of song and story while those childless years seemed to linger on. My first little book project was my time-filler as we awaited a child to love. Just as a patch of sunlight can be a symbol of hope for a beautiful day, The Parable Patch project became my exercise of patience coupled with expectation.
Our daughter finally arrived and she grew up hearing the songs and stories I had prepared for her. Over time, opportunities for retelling seemed to sprout up in a variety of community, school, and church venues.
Now retired from decades of teaching in both private and public schools, I have expanded my little patch of performance productions. I am often joined by my husband, Ken, singer and accordionist for speaking, storytelling, or singing engagements. We specialize in programs for children and “seasoned citizens.” We offer performances throughout East Tennessee. Feel free to contact me if you would like more information on an upcoming event or to schedule an event.
What We Believe
We believe that the Bible is the very Word of God.
We believe that there is only one true and living God who exists in three distinct persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
We believe that Jesus Christ was and is both fully divine and fully human; that He took on Himself the form of a man, lived a sinless life and died as a substitute for us, rising again to make full atonement for our sins.
We believe that Christ died for the sins of all people and that the free gift of salvation is offered to all. In order to receive eternal life, a person must be born again by turning from sin and to God, by believing in Christ as Lord and Savior, and by accepting His offer of mercy.
We believe that a true believer has been set apart positionally before God the moment he believes and that he will continue to progressively grow in grace to be more like Christ. One day the believer will be perfectly transformed into the image of Christ.
We believe that Christ instituted two ordinances for His church: baptism as a testimony and picture of our faith in Him, and the Lord’s Supper as commemoration of His death until He comes.
We believe that the family was instituted by God and is defined by the marriage of one man to one woman.
